Running out of gas while you’re running errands, on the open road, or worse, in the middle of nowhere, is an event that nobody schedules or plans for. Fortunately for all Chicagoland drivers, Chicago Towing provides fantastic on-demand, on-location car refueling services. Here’s a guide to the process of refueling if you find your car suddenly out of gas.
Pull Over
First, make sure to safely pull over to the side of the road before doing anything else. It’s best to pull over on the road’s shoulder, but if you suddenly have no gas in the middle of a highway lane, you will just need to stay calm. Turn on ALL of your vehicle’s hazard lights, and try not to panic.
Contact a Towing or Car Refueling Service
Contact the experts at Chicago Towing right away. Our mobile technicians will be deployed directly to your location as soon as you call, so you can have peace of mind in knowing that help is surely on the way.
Contact a Friend
If for some reason you can’t contact a car refueling or car towing service, contact a trusted friend or family member to see if they can help out. This option is most likely to yield results if you’re by their homes or workplaces. Ask them to either deliver you spare gas, or if they could pick you up, drive you to a nearby gas station to pick up the gas, and then back to your vehicle.
Look up a Nearby Gas Station
If you can’t contact a towing company, friend, or family member, look up the closest gas station on your phone. There, you can pick up a container of gas to refuel your vehicle with yourself.
Walk to the Gas Station – but ONLY IF SAFE
You might feel as though you can easily walk to the gas station, but you should only do so if there’s a safe and brightly lit place to walk. Never cross a highway or freeway on foot, especially at night, because the massive and dangerous risks hugely outweigh the potential rewards. If you must do so, keep waving your phone’s bright flashlight in the air, or better yet, wear a reflective material and carry a road flare with you.
